Articles About Reiki
What is Reiki ?
Reiki is an ancient, non-intrusive complementary therapy. A hands-on healing technique, Reiki enhances the body’s own innate ability to heal itself on all levels.
RFI does not recognise any other therapy (eg. Angel therapy, Crystal therapy) as a part of the Reiki system of healing. While these therapies are sometimes used in conjunction with Reiki, it is imperative that the client and Reiki students are informed of the clear distinction between Reiki and other healing modalities. Reiki is an individual healing art in its own right.
It helps restore balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit. The energy involved in Reiki healing is the universal energy that surrounds all life. Reiki is used throughout the world by people of all creeds and belief systems. Reiki can benefit everyone. The two ways to experience Reiki energy are to have a Reiki treatment from a Reiki practitioner or to learn how to use it for yourself, by attending a Reiki Course.
Everyone has the ability to use Reiki however, most adults have closed off to the energy they were naturally channeling as children. Years of conditioning and the general ups and downs of life contribute to this.
How Reiki works?
We all have an energy field (aura) surrounding our physical body. As we go through life we place demands on our energy field. During a Reiki treatment this energy field can re-energise. Reiki restores the natural balance of the body, providing deep relaxation and bringing a sense of peace and well-being. It is called universal life energy because it draws upon the healing energy of the universe rather than the energy of the practitioner. The Reiki practitioner has been professionally trained to channel the Reiki energy. Reiki will pass through clothing, bandages, plaster casts or braces so anyone can avail of a Reiki treatment.

A Reiki Treatment is a deeply relaxing non intrusive treatment. Your Reiki practitioner will complete a client consultation form with you and explain how Reiki
works. Reiki is non-intrusive. The client always remains fully clothed during a treatment. The Reiki practitioner follows a sequence of hand positions over the body. The practitioner channels universal life force energy to the Client. The Reiki energy the client receives is not the Practitioner’s personal energy. The Reiki Practitioner has been trained in how to facilitate the flow of this energy to others during their Reiki training.
Generally, clients can feel a deep sense of relaxation, heat, tingling, coolness and energy flowing during a Reiki treatment. Reiki will flow to where your body needs it. Many people go into a deep relaxed state during the treatment. Usually a Reiki treatment lasts one hour. Someone who has a chronic condition is usually advised to have a weekly Reiki treatment for four to six weeks for the energy to build up in the system. Treatments can then be reviewed by the client and practitioner. People with acute conditions may notice lasting improvements after two treatments. No two treatments are the same, as Reiki works on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
People who want relief from an acute condition or an acute exacerbation of an existing condition may notice results quicker than a person presenting with a chronic condition.
It is highly recommended to have Reiki Treatments to maintain health when you are well. As Reiki helps to boost your immune system and reduce stress, regular Reiki treatments are a great way to maintain your health. A Reiki treatment every now and again is a lovely way of not just treating yourself, but being healthier.
